PhD position: Develop software and analyses methods to apply cognitive affective maps in order to predict attitudes and behavior concerning living materials

University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany
The Cognition, Action, and Sustainability Unit (Abteilung Allgemeine Psychologie; Prof. Dr. Andrea Kiesel) at the University of Freiburg, Germany, is looking for a PhD student (TV-L E13 65%, earliest start date: 01.04.2019) for a project embedded in the new Cluster of Excellence "Living, Adaptive and Energy-autonomous Materials Systems (livMatS)". livMatS develops novel, bioinspired materials systems that adapt autonomously to various environments and harvest clean energy from their surroundings. The societal relevance of autonomous systems and their sustainability will play an important role in their development. We will address multi-method approaches to develop and validate computational models predicting acceptance of living materials systems. In the PhD-project, we aim to advance “Cognitive Affective Maps” (CAMs), a novel approach to predict acceptance based on cognitive and affective factors. The projects entails preparation, implementation and evaluation of experimental studies as well as the development, construction, and evaluation of computerized models.
