Associate Professor in Psychology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark


The Department of Psychology, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Odense, Denmark, embedded within the Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for one or more vacant positions as associate professor in Psychology to be filled towards January 2018 or soon thereafter. 

The Department of Psychology has been built up during the last 6 years and forms the research basis for the bachelor and master degree programmes in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark. Both degree programmes have been fully developed and the first master’s students graduated in August 2015. The primary research focus of the Department is on Clinical and Medical / Health Psychology with a translational perspective. 

The research programme is currently organized into 6 research groups, with academic staff members participating in one or more of the associated groups.

Appointment to associate professor presupposes scientific qualifications documented through a PhD degree in psychology and a completed assistant professorship (or the equivalent). 

We are looking for a candidate, preferably with a profile in clinical or medical / health psychology, who is a team player, and interested in contributing actively to the environment at the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern Denmark. 

Applicants are expected to have competences in teaching and supervising students, to have strong research competences, and a demonstrated track record with respect to attracting external funding that can contribute to:

• Continued course development and coordination of the degree programmes in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark 
• Teaching and supervision at the BSc, MSc, pre-graduate and PhD level 
• Development of a dynamic research environment through the establishment of national and international collaborations 
• Development of talents at the Department
• Raising external competitive research funds

The registered applications will be assessed under the existing Appointment Order for universities and will be assessed by an independent and external assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant may be invited to an interview.
