Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) of Cognitive Psychology, American University in Cairo
The University’s educational assets include the largest English-language academic library collection in Egypt, three modern theaters and 15 cross-disciplinary research centers. The University’s modern, 260-acre New Cairo campus constitutes a visionary investment in the future of Cairo, Egypt and the region — a state-of-the-art facility for advanced research, innovative teaching, lifelong learning and civic engagement. Chartered and accredited in the United States and Egypt, The American University in Cairo is an independent, not-for-profit, equal-opportunity institution.
Egypt has been much in the news over recent years, there is a somewhat exaggerated media view of a country much in turmoil with a precarious security situation. The university is proud to have a large foreign faculty from across the globe holding long term appointments, with new foreign faculty regularly joining the ranks. Life in Cairo is rich and vibrant and our international faculty enjoy the wonders of this ancient, yet modern city, as well as the opportunity to explore this diverse country.
We seek to appoint a successful Cognitive Psychologist who will join a School and Faculty in a tenure track position, with research ambition and a drive to have real impact in the world. We welcome applications from people with research interests in any area of Cognitive Psychology but it is essential that they are able to teach a broad range of topics in cognitive and experimental psychology.
We are looking for highly motivated people with a creative and collegiate approach to Psychology, and we welcome applicants working with a range of methods who are committed to both research and teaching. All faculty members will contribute directly to research, teaching and learning and to service in the School. In addition to salary, previous faculty have received generous access to research and conference travel grants, health insurance and pension scheme, annual home leave for all family members, as well as, the opportunity of excellent faculty housing located next to campus or free transportation for off campus housing.
