The first ESCoP Satellite on Cognitive Enhancement

Potsdam, Germany
3 September 2017
Cognitive enhancement is the use of any means (e.g., brain stimulation, meditation, physical exercise, life style, or food supplements) aimed at enhancing performance in healthy individuals. The aim of the meeting is to pursue a mechanistically oriented, theory-driven approach that tries to understand and explain how and why an intervention can enhance a targeted cognitive function. This provides an interesting bridge between the rigor and mechanistic interest of basic-science approaches and the opportunity to translate basic insights into programs with societal impact — an aspect that is increasingly emphasized by both funding agencies and individual researchers.
