Workshop: "The role of gesture in cognitive and linguistic processes"
25 July 2017
The workshop is aimed at postgraduate students who would like to present their research in a friendly environment. Our goal is to offer these students the opportunity to discuss their findings with peers and academics during the day of the workshop, which could help them to write up their research for academic journals and their dissertation. Students who are not presenting, postdocs, and lecturers are more than welcome to join the audience. Topics may include the influences of seeing and producing gesture on information processing, reasoning, language processing, problem-solving, word learning, and memory in both adults and children. We welcome behavioural, observational, and neuroscientific findings from researchers working in the fields of psychology, linguistics, gesture studies, cognitive science, and neuroscience. The plenary speaker will be Sotaro Kita, whose talk is titled: "How do gestures influence speaking and thinking?".
Abstract submission deadline: 15 April 2017
