Conference on Multilingualism (COM) 2016

Ghent, Belgium
11-13 September 2016

The Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPPW) at Ghent University is organising the Conference on Multilingualism 2016. The conference will take place from 11th September to 13th September 2016 in the centre of historic Ghent, in Belgium. The call is now open for oral and poster presentations.
The Conference on Multilingualism actually has a longstanding tradition. It started in 2005 at the University of Trento under the name ‘Workshop on Bilingualism’. Since then, the name has been changed a couple of times to ‘Neurobilingualism’ and ‘Workshop of Neurobilingualism’. This makes the current conference the ninth edition of the gathering. We decided to continue the tradition under the somewhat broader label of ‘Conference on multilingualism’ in order to include different aspects of cognition and not limit the scope to just bilingualism.
Participants wishing to present should submit a title and an abstract for their presentation before 18th March 2016 by email to Please use the abstract template, which you can find on the website (
Abstracts should be no longer than 400 words, including references. Notifications of acceptance will be sent on 25th March 2016. Suitable topics for presentation are all cognitive aspects of bilingualism and multilingualism, including (but not limited to) language processing, cognitive control, and (working) memory. Please indicate in your email whether you prefer a poster or oral presentation.
